PUNE: Over the next five days, the city will receive just one or two spells of rainfall.
The deep depression system is likely to move westwards and gradually weaken into a depression during the next 24 hours. The deep depression is seen over south Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh.
The system will continue to move in west-northwesterly direction and weaken gradually into a depression.
Monsoon is expected to remain active to vigorous over Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, During the next five days in Pune, there will be a few spells of light rain accompanied by cloudy skies. The city has received 499.6mm rainfall in total since June 1 as part of the southwest monsoon, which is in excess of 93.8mm over the normal seasonal rainfall.
Coastal Maharashtra will witness an increase in rainfall activity and light to moderate rain is likely to continue during the next three to four days.
Vidarbha will experience light rain between August 21 and 23 whereas central Maharashtra and Marathwada will see mainly dry weather throughout next week, with isolated rainfall.
Maximum temperatures across the state of Maharashtra will be in range of 24°C to 32°C and minimum temperatures will be between 19°C and 24°C.
So far, Madhya Maharashtra has received 617.1mm rainfall as against the normal rainfall of 509.3mm. Essentially, this region of the state has witnessed 21% excess rain.
Marathwada also received 10% more rainfall than normal with a total of 476.5mm rain against the normal of 434.6. Vidarbha witnessed 13% excess rainfall after receiving 761.5mm rain as against the normal of 672.1mm rainfall.
The axis of the monsoon trough is running close to the Himalayan foothills.
The eastern arm of the trough is passing though Bareilly, centre of deep depression through Midnapore, and finally towards northeast Bay of Bengal. A feeble offshore trough is running from north Maharashtra towards Konkan and Goa.
